The definition of parallelism: The idea of making a pattern that is suppose to be equal to one main idea.
Parallelism is an important because it adds sentence structure and fluency.
Parallelism can also make proving a point easier because you create more points in a single sentence.
Here are two different ways parallelism is used to make a strong point for what the person is saying.

This is a nice example of how parallelism can be used in a simple sentence.
In the first example it does not show true parallelism because the word "fame" doesn't match "wants money".
There are two different ways to fix the first example.
The first way is to take away "wants" from money.
Now we know Clara wants money and fame to be something that goes hand in hand with each other.
We can also fix the sentence by adding "wants" to both "Money" and "fame".
"Clara not only wants money but also wants fame". Now the sentence shows parallelism because it shows repeating things that are used to mean one ideas.

Time to see what you know, its been a long lesson but now its almost over!
For the next three examples try to figure out if they have parallelism.
Example 1) Paul practices karate, basketball, and plays the piano for fun.
Example 2) Mr. Rose loves to brush, rinse, and care for his teeth.
Example 3) when your going camping it is important to bring a sleeping bag, bring a tooth brush, and always bring a tent.

The cheat sheet!
Example 1) Paul practices karate, basketball, and piano for fun.
In this example we talk about the things Paul practices singularly. So if we start if off by saying "Paul practices karate, basketball," we need to end it with "piano" by itself. We do this because we know Paul does all these things, so adding "plays piano" isn't important.
Example 2) Example two showed perfect parallelism because it kept bringing up the things Mr. Rose loves to do with his teeth singularly.
Example 3) Example three also showed perfect parallelism because it kept repeating "bring a" on the things that were important to what the writer was trying to prove.
